Who we are?

Artisans of Florence is a worldwide touring exhibitions company. We work in close partnership with the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci in Florence pioneering hands on interactive educational exhibitions since the 1960’s. Our Florence-based Artisans specialize in reconstructing ancient and lost technology (also known as forensic archaeology) to develop unique and engaging interactive learning experiences for all ages using the techniques and materials relevant to the epoch. The Artisans have been passing down the knowledge of classical construction from generation to generation and have received many awards and accolades for their dedication to their craft and their new discoveries.

What separates us from the rest?

Over the years, the Artisans have discovered a treasure-trove of lost historical inventions and technologies.

Our award-winning team hold the world’s only patent on Da Vinci technology for rediscovering a unique mechanism which Leonardo used to power his legendary robotic drummer. This was featured in Scientific American and forms an important part of our unique Da Vinci Robotics Exhibition.

The Artisans rediscovered Archimedes’ long lost ‘scientific method’ and the secret machines used to build great Egyptian Pyramids during research and development of our blockbuster exhibition the Science of Archimedes.

The Artisans were recongnised by the Italian government for their contribution to arts and culture with the prestigious award “Italia Che Lavora” (Italy at Work) in 2001.

Our Exhibition Ancient Rome was awarded with the Italian President’s Gold Medal for Cultural Innovation in 2012.
